Regional Institute of Policy Research and Training (RIPORT) is a registered, non profit organization with its headquarters at 10-C, Railway Road, University Town, Peshawar, NWFP. The Institute is presently operating in North-West Frontier Province and Federally Administered Tribal Areas and has plans to extend its operations to other parts of the country. It also envisages operating in other countries, subject to the approval of its board of governors.

The Institute will contribute in increasing financial, economic, governance and human rights space for the people through policy research, analytical studies, project operations, advocacy, skill development, capacity building and networking with stake holders.

Working in collaboration with other stake holders, on non-profit basis, the main objective of RIPORT is to serve the region as a centre of excellence for generating alternate/new policy recommendations and enhancing the capacity of government and civil society leading to economic and social improvement in the community at large. In pursuit of the main objective RIPORT aims to focus on the following main areas.

 

1.

Rendering advice and recommendations to government based on objectively conducted policy research and analysis;

 

2.

Working for peace and welfare of the people by increasing understanding and bridging opposing thoughts;

 

3.

Researching and advocating appropriate conflict resolution mechanisms;

 

4.

Importing training to build and enhance skills & capacities of public functionaries and non-governmental institutions in the areas of finance, development, management, governance and conflict resolutions;

 

5.

Create linkages with centers of learning and excellence in core areas for maximizing research and analysis impact;

 

6.

Augmenting service standards in education, health, drinking water sector, vocational training and environment sectors;

 

7.

Designing disaster and emergency management policies and preparing work plans to mitigate calamitous sufferings;

 

8.

Advocating democratic norms, basic human rights and issues of public importance through seminars, policy dialogues, workshop, focused group discussion, print and electronic media; and

 

9. 

Encouraging activities in its objectives by awarding prizes, medals, scholarship, grants, managing trusts and funds.

 

Membership of the Institute is regulated by its bye-laws. The Institute is managed by a board of governors, which acts on behalf of and represents the institute in all matters of policy. It is mandated to make and adopt bye-laws. Officers of the Institute include Chairperson, Vice-Chairperson, Directors and Secretary. The Chairperson is the designated Chief Executive Officer of the Institute, who heads RIPORT's day to day operations.
The Institute, being a non profit organization, draws its resources from fees, subscriptions, donations from members, and contributions from other sources, which are compatible with institutional objectives. The Institute has a Project Investment Fund for development of project proposals and undertaking small pilots. Transparency and accountability are core principles of the institute in managing its resources.
